Biography

Angelica Coonts works at Pensacola State College as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and has worked in Financial Aid for 3 years and 6 months. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Arkansas. Upon graduation, she started her career in Financial Aid at the same institution. From June 2019 through September 2021, she served as a Financial Aid Analyst. In this position, she strived to ensure compliant and accurate packaging of Title IV aid, Private, Departmental, State, and Foundation scholarships. She also served as the VA/ Service Member Liaison for the campus in which she participated in Outreach Programs such as FAFSA nights. In October of 2021 she was promoted to the position of Reconciliation Specialist. Here she worked to reconcile state, private funds, and Title IV funds monthly in addition to her role as a liaison.

She continued this role until February 2022 when she relocated to Pensacola. In March of 2022 she began working at Pensacola State College as the Associate Coordinator. In this position she helped develop the procedures for the new Workday System and was the first point of contact for escalations. In September of 2022 she was promoted to Coordinator, Federal Direct Loans and Default Management. During this time, she worked with the Assistant Director to ensure timely and accurate awarding for direct loans, participated in training sessions, continued to serve as a point of contact for escalations, and assisted with additional tasks as assigned.

On April 3rd, 2023, she was promoted to Assistant Director and has worked to ensure adequate training within the Financial Aid Office, provided training for other departments at Pensacola State College, continued to assist in day-to-day tasks as needed, and continued to handle escalations. Angelica currently serves as the Region I representative for FASFAA. 

Angelica remains dedicated to serving in the Financial Aid community by providing training and awareness of best practices in Financial Aid as the community continues to serve students by providing financial support ensuring they can meet their educational goals. 


Statement of Candidacy

I am honored to be considered for the position of Vice President of Training for the Florida Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (FASFAA).  The organization offers several opportunities for leadership and growth within the Financial Aid Administration community. As Region I representative I have provided trainings that are relevant to current changes in Financial Aid and worked to meet the needs of Region I. When attending workshops and conferences I strived to speak with members to develop professional relationships and determine how I can better assist the FASFAA community. My goal is to take my experience from my time as Region I Representative and apply it to the responsibilities associated with this position. As a lifelong learner, I will strive to work with the community to promote cooperation and training opportunities that will support Florida Financial Aid Community in our goal of supporting students financially as they achieve their educational goals. I am a dedicated worker and am passionate about the Vision and Mission of FASFAA.
